TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR FARMERS FROM KARNATAKA AT AHALIA CAMPUS
The National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) – Regional Cum Facilitation Centre (RCFC), Southern Region and KFRI conducted a training programme for farmers from Karnataka in collaboration with the Karnataka State Medicinal Plants Authority (SMPB). Green Ahalia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KFRI to strengthen collaborative research activities. As part of the programme, a team of 28 farmers from Karnataka led by Dr. M. J. Prabhu, Senior Consultant, Karnataka Medicinal Plant Cultivation and Conservation, visited the Ahalia Campus for an exposure visit. A team from KFRI led by Dr. Sudheep N M also accompanied the visitors. During the visit, the farmers were introduced to various aspects of medicinal plant cultivation and conservation. The team visited our cultivation areas, where different medicinal plant species are maintained. They also observed the model plantation plots, Sandal-based agroforestry model, and Phytovoltaic model, which demonstrate scientific cultivation practices for medicinal plants. The farmers were further taken to the Ayurvedic Medicine Manufacturing Unit (AMMU), where they learned about the processing and value addition of medicinal plant products. The visit provided them with practical knowledge on cultivation techniques, plantation management, and post-harvest processing. They also visited the Ahalia Heritage Village.
