Nature’s Shield: Inauguration of thematic garden- Sarpa Raksha

The thematic garden Sarpa Raksha showcasing snake-repellent plant species, was inaugurated on 30th June 2026 by Dr. A. V. Santosh Kumar, Professor, Department of Forest Biology & Tree Improvement, Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), Thrissur, in the presence of Dr. Jiji Joseph, Professor &. Head AICRP on medicinal plants, KAU, Thrissur.
As part of the inauguration, Dr. Santosh Kumar planted Rauvolfia serpentina, while Dr. Jiji Joseph planted Andrographis paniculata, marking the establishment of the garden. The programme was attended by Ahalia ayurveda medical college hospital interns and Green Ahalia team to show all Green Ahalia activities.

Dr. A. V. Santosh Kumar also visited the Smrithi Vatika to review the growth of the Saraca asoca (Ashoka) sapling that he had planted during his previous visit. The unique theme garden- Sarpa Raksha has been established as desired by Ahalia group Chairman, Dr. V S Gopal to promote awareness about snake-repellent plants and their significance.
