Green Ahalia Team embarks on a journey for Conservation and Academic Collaboration

On 17 September 2026, the Green Ahalia team visited Ernakulam as part of its ongoing initiatives in plant conservation, academic collaboration, and nature awareness. The team’s first visit was to Sanjeevani, a remarkable man-made forest like a sacred grove developed and conserved by Mr. Suresh in his homestead. The site is home to a diverse collection of medicinal, rare, and heritage plants. In recognition of his dedicated efforts in conserving Kerala’s plant diversity, Mr. Suresh was a recipient of the prestigious Kerala Vanamithra Award. During the visit, the Green Ahalia team documented the plant diversity and collected a few rare species for conservation and propagation initiatives at Ahalia.
The team then visited St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam, where they met Dr. Sreehari, an expert in the field. Discussions were held on strengthening and improving the Althara theme and exploring opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions. The meeting also focused on potential cooperation in academic activities, research, knowledge exchange, and conservation programmes. The final destination was Durbar Hall, Ernakulam, where the team visited a Painting exhibition dedicated to nature and the environment. Dr. Mathew Dan, a member of the Green Ahalia Advisory Board, had drawn and exhibited a painting depicting the Ahalia campus as part of the exhibition. The painting was formally handed over to Ahalia as a gift, adding a valuable artistic representation of the campus to its collection.
