A memorable trip to Coimbatore

The Botanical Survey of India, Southern Regional Center (BSI) and Institute of Forest Genetics and Tree Breeding under ICFRE, Coimbatore are Pioneering Research Institutes under MoEF&CC Govt. Of India with both of which Green Ahalia has a very cordial relationship. Learning that Dr. M U Sharief, Scientist F and HoF is superannuating on 31st January the entire team of Green Ahalia made a visit to pay our respect and regards to him. We also took this opportunity to consult BSI library and garden. We organized a small farewell meeting at his office chamber to honour Dr. Sharief in which his colleagues Dr. Hameed and Dr. Sujana were also present.

A significant point was that we could buy a good number of BSI publications and got 4 seedlings of Bentickia condapana. Fruits of Cerbera and Crescentia were an additional gift for us. In the afternoon we visited IFGTB, and met Dr. C. Kunhikannan, Director, and Dr. A.Mayavel, Scientist there. With their help we got seedlings of Neolamarckia cadamba, Casuarina sp. And Guaiacum officinale from their nursery. We look forward to the support and guidance from these two institutes.
