A green handshake with SFTI

A group of 30 trainees and their faculty from the State Forest Training Institute, Walayar visited Green Ahalia on 13 th June 2026 as part of their exposure visits. The team was led by Range Officer Mr. Mohammed Ali Jinna and Estate Officer Mr. Badsha. The trainees are largely from Malappuram to Kasargode in Northern Kerala from various parts of Kerala. Women trainees had a good representation in the team. After a classroom interaction by Green Ahalia team Mr. Sabik and Dr. Haridasan the visitors had a conducted tour of all our research plots of cultivation at Anayappan Challa, Conservation plots at Chayathara, Theme gardens at main campus and propagation and nursery facilities.

The trainees also visited the Ahalia Heritage Museum and the Sculpture Park, experiencing the institution's efforts to integrate environmental conservation with cultural heritage. As forestry professionals undergoing training, the participants found the experience highly relevant and enriching for the future managers of Kerala's forests.
