From Awareness to Action: Inauguration of the Threatened Plant Species Conservatory at Ahalia Campus
As suggested by KSBB chairman, Dr. Anilkumar we joined hands with BMC Elapulli, APS and AAMCH and celebrated a special even tagging to world Environment Day. It comprised of an awareness lecture, inauguration of threatened plant conservatory and a conducted tour of the thematic gardens for BMC members. This was facilitated by KSBB district coordinator and TSG member Dr. Prasija.Threatened Plant Species Conservatory has been developed by Green Ahalia under the Assistance to Botanical Gardens (ABG) Project with the support of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Biju C, President of Elappully Grama Panchayat, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Ms. Suma S.L., Secretary, Elappully Grama Panchayat along with BMC members, Dr. Prasija Cheraparambath, TSG Member, KSBB and Mr. Vignesh, District Coordinator, KSBB, Palakkad were among the distinguished guests who attended the event. The students and teachers of Ahalia Public School who are the biodiversity club members took part in planting ceremony along with BMC members. A presentation on the significance of conserving threatened plant species and the objectives of establishing the conservatory was delivered by Dr. K. Haridasan.
