Green Ahalia locates earlier reported new species

Green Ahalia is on a mission to locate and make ecological observations on two new species of trees earlier reported from Nelliyampathy hills. These are Syzygium palghatensis and Elaeocarpus gadgilii. Both are highly threatened and left with only few individuals. The team led by Mr. Sabik could locate both trees, following guidance from Dr. Maya C Nair, our Advisory Board member and made observation on regeneration and did branch collections. We could even locate few more trees of these species nearby. The trees are in early stage of flowering. Attempts are made at Green Ahalia facility to propagate them vegetatively. We are keeping our fingers crossed for positive results.
