For mother nature

Today is memorable for Green Ahalia as we made a journey to Vamala Pallavur with a different mission aimed at Reintroduction of an endemic species described from Palakkad – Oldenlandia dineshii. Vamala has exact replication of Gangotri kunnu, from where the plant was first reported in terms of vegetation and associated flora but for Oldenlandia. With that Scene in mind, Green Ahlia proposed to introduce the missing species here under the Assistance to botanic Garden Project awarded to us. Accordingly a planting programme was organised on 1st September. Dr. Haridasan explained the programme and highlighted the significance of the plant and the importance of its reintroduction and conservation. Dr. K K Seethalakshmi, Research Director IRTC and former Chief Scientist, KFRI inaugurated the planting. Sri V C Krishnankutty VIBA, and a progressive farmer from Pallavur Sri. P Ramachandran also graced the event. The site had associated species like Parasopubia delfinifolia, Striga angustifolia, Drosera indica, Uticularia graminifolia, Murdania semiteris, Rotala malampuzhensis, Commelina, and many more. We do hope they produce seeds and next year the population can be seen flourishing. A small contribution to environment in our own way. Mr. Sabik, P I of the project and Shaibu, Manager Green Ahalia along with Midhun and Manuel coordinated the ex-situ planting.
