This Week Plant – Cissus quadrangularis L
Cissus quadrangularis, popularly known as Changalam peranda is member of the family Vitaceae. The plant is a succulent climber, characterized by its thick, fleshy, four angled green jointed stem Leaves alternate simple ovate, and tendrils opposite to leaves. Flowers on stout peduncle yellowish green cymose umbellate clusters. Fruits globose fleshy turning red when ripe. The plant is an important plant in traditional medicine due to its bone-healing properties and used in bone setting. It is comparatively rare in the district and Green Ahalia is trying to propagate and grow it in our thematic gardens.
